Renan Barao held onto the UFC interim bantamweight championship belt with a fourth-round arm-triangle submission win over Michael McDonald at UFC on Fuel 7 over the weekend. At 30-1, Barao hasn't lost since 2005. He won the interim title with a win over Urijah Faber over the summer when an injury sidelined champion Dominick Cruz.
The UFC is hoping for Barao to fight Cruz this summer, as long as Cruz's leg is healed from surgeries on his knee.
In other main card fights, Cub Swanson took a decision win over Dustin Poirier, Jimi Manuwa won by TKO after Cyrille Diabbate's calf was injured, and Gunnar Nelson and James Te'Huna won decisions.

UFC President Dana White was clearly unhappy with the way the co-headliner played out at UFC 156: Aldo vs. Edgar, and he made a rather cryptic statement about former light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans shortly after the event. Evans lost an uneventful bout with Antonio Rogerio Nogueira, and, at the post-fight press conference, White said…

Vitor Belfort and Michael Bisping stared off at the end of a press conference in Sao Paolo on Thursday. A simple staredown happens all the time in the UFC, but this one nearly came to blows.
I've never understood this kind of grandstanding. They will have their chance to put their hands on each other in two short days, as the main event of UFC of FX 7. For Bisping, it's a chance to get a step closer to the UFC middleweight title shot that has long eluded him. Why not wait and use all that aggression in the cage?
Of the fracas, Bisping responded with, "HE STARTED IT."
He touched my face so I pushed it away and he put it back a little aggressively, then he started shouting,... who's the hooligan now eh? Lol

CHICAGO -- Clay Guida will take on Hatsu Hioki on Saturday's UFC on Fox 6 card. It will mark Guida's first fight at featherweight, but before the bout and weigh-ins, he has another match on his mind.
Montini Catholic's wrestling team will face the Oak Park River Forest Huskies, and Guida will be matside to coach. He wrestled in high school and was part of a junior college national championship team at Harper College in suburban Chicago.
"I got a big wrestling meet tonight with the team I help coach, Montini Catholic at Oak Park-River Forest. We're no. 1, going for our sixth-straight state title. I believe they're no. 1 ranked in 3A, no. 2 in the state. Two top-10 teams in the nation."
Guida's longtime wrestling coach, Izzy Martinez, coaches at Montini, and he's brought fighters like Guida in to help his team. Guida's fight taking place in his hometown of Chicago days after Montini's biggest dual meet is lucky scheduling because it allows Guida to be at the meet. Working with the high school wrestlers gives Guida inspiration.
"It's a huge part of my training. These kids motivate me," Guida said during open workouts.
Guida says this fight is a new start for him. He was criticized by UFC president Dana White and fans for the loss to Gray Maynard for a safe fight strategy. Guida says that fight is behind him.
"You're going to see a more energetic, revamped Clay Guida. Educated fight fans see the strides I have made. I believe I'm one of the most improved lightweights, and soon to be featherweights, in the UFC. You see my striking. I outstruck Gray, I outgrappled Gray. I beat him everywhere except on the judges' scorecards. I'm beyond that now. It was a learning experience, and Hatsu Hioki is going to pay for it."
But before he gets in the cage with Hioki, it's the Montini Broncos' turn to perform, and Guida will be there coaching them on.

The UFC has revealed that Thiago Tavares tested positive for the anabolic steroid drostanolone and has been suspended for nine months. UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones comes from a family of elite athletes. His older brother Arthur is a defensive end for the Baltimore Ravens, and his younger brother Chandler is a defensive end for the New England Patriots. Normally, that doesn't cause many dilemmas within the family. The Patriots and Ravens are in different divisions in the AFC and don't always play each other during the season.
On Sunday, things are different. The two will play each other for a spot in the Super Bowl. Jon, the middle child, is really stuck in the middle here. So who is he cheering for?
Sorry, Chandler. But really, the Jones family can't lose. A trip to New Orleans for the Super Bowl to support either Chandler or Arthur is in the offing, and in April, a trip to Newark to see Jon fight Chael Sonnen.

The start of the UFC 156 weigh-ins was shaky, as the first three fighters were overweight. Was there a problem with the scale provided by the Nevada State Athletic Commission? Nah, the first three fighters were just overweight. Everyone else on the card made weight with no trouble. Yves Edwards even weighed in while eating a Snickers bar. Dana White's latest video blog shows that while he may be the president of a multimillion dollar business, he's also still an 11-year-old kid who can't help himself from pranking UFC chairman Lorenzo Fertitta. White fills the pockets of Fertitta's suit coat with grapes and cheese, and hopes Fertitta will explode. Watch to see if he does.
Other things to watch out for from behind the scenes at UFC 155:
-- Junior dos Santos staring in the mirror and psyching himself up for his bout with Cain Velasquez.
-- A beat-up Joe Lauzon watching replays of his fight.
-- Seeing emotions pour out of Velasquez after he won the UFC heavyweight championship bout again.
-- As dos Santos' swollen face is worked on, fans begin to chant his name. Despite being in obvious pain, he takes the ice off of his face to wave to his fans.

In six fights, UFC women's bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey has ended every fight in the first round. Her go-to armbar submission means her fights are predictable, but they're rarely boring.
But as for fighters she finds exciting? Don't put welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre on her list. Rousey called him boring last year, and confirmed what she said.
"I respect Georges St. Pierre as a businessman and an athlete," Rousey said to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. "I don't have anything against him personally. But he's not the kind of fighter I like watching."
"He fights to win matches. He doesn't fight to defeat his opponents. I lost a lot of judo matches because of points fighters. It was extremely frustrating for me. And when I see that same style being played out in a different sport, it brings out the same reaction in me."
The last time GSP didn't have a fight go to the judges was when he won by TKO over B.J. Penn in 2009. Rousey is hardly the first person to criticized GSP's strategic style, but this is from a fellow champion who has the standing to say what she likes. It gives the criticism even more weight.
