The Dragon is Back! Ryan Bader could not close the distance on Lyoto “The Dragon” Machida in the first round of their co-main event bout at UFC on FOX 4. Lyoto utilized his trademark footwork, counter-punching and kicks to control the action. In an attempt to get on the inside Bader rushed in as he threw a right at Machida. However, Machida stood his ground and blasted Bader with a perfectly placed right hand to the jaw.
Following UFC on FOX 4, Dana White announced that Machida had earned the next title shot at the light heavyweight champion. Machida will face the winner of Jon Jones and Dan Henderson who will meet at UFC 151 on September 1st.
