UFC lightweight Nate Diaz may not throw his strikes with reckless abandon in hopes of landing one powerful blow to end the evening’s action. However, according to champion Benson Henderson, Diaz does have the ability to put an opponent to sleep with a single move thanks to his high-level Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu skills.
Henderson was recently asked to weigh in on his upcoming opponent, who he’ll face December 8 at UFC on FOX 5, and showed absolute respect to the threats Diaz poses both mentally and physically.
Henderson Re-Caps his Title-Defense Against Frankie Edgar
“First and foremost I gotta keep my emotional state in check,” stated Henderson on the match-up in an interview with Inside MMA. “Skill-wise, he brings very crisp boxing and knockout power in his submission game. You make a mistake, he’s gonna catch your neck and you’re gonna go to sleep or you gotta tap.”
Diaz has submitted eleven of the sixteen opponents he’s beaten including the likes of Takanori Gomi, Kurt Pellegrino, Melvin Guillard, and Jim Miller.
