UFC fighter Ian McCall jailed until September 13 after arrest for two warrants

The UFC will be without one of its top flyweights for an extra month after news surfaced this week surrounding the arrest of Ian McCall. McCall, who is currently recovering from a knee injury, was taken into custody by authorities in Laguna Beach, California after he was pulled over by police this week and found to have warrants stemming from traffic issues as well as for failing to complete an agreement he made with the State on 2008 drug charges.

McCall will remain behind bars until September 13 when he will have a pre-trial hearing.

“Uncle Creepy” Hoping to Fight in November

News of McCall’s arrest was first reported by Stu News Laguna with MMAJunkie following it up with information from the fighter’s attorney.

“Ian’s license had been suspended for unpaid traffic and parking tickets,” said lawyer George Vargas. “The very next day, on June 15, Ian went to the Harbor Justice Center with his agent, and paid over $2,600 in fines. He, mistakenly, thought that the ticket from the previous day had been handled. A few weeks later, when the court date for that case came, Ian did not show, and a warrant was issued for his arrest.”

The other warrant involved McCall not doing 20 hours of community service relating to a 2008 situation involving prescription drugs and drug paraphernalia. McCall’s struggle with drug addiction years ago is well-documented.
