The news of the retirement of Kazuo Misaki lead me into thinking about other great MMA figthers that retired without stepping into the UFC octagon
I truly believe Misaki is top 3 of all time in fighters that retired without fighting in UFC
1. Fedor Emelianenko - he was virtually undefeated in his 33 MMA fights, including a run over Herring, Big Nog, Coleman, Randleman, and Cro Cop, after which he took a break with some freakshow fights and decided to sign with Strikeforce instead of the UFC and lost 3 fights in a row
2. Igor Vovchanchyn - he was on a 36 fight unbeaten streak from 1996-2000 defeating Sakuraba and Goodridge. He had some tough wars in Pride and decided to retire when Pride was acquired by UFC. Along with Fedor he belongs to the Russians that werent acquired by the UFC in the Pride purchase
3. Kazuo Misaki - since 2006 has beat UFC vets like Phil Baroni, Dan Henderson, Denis Kang, Siyar Bahadurzada, and questionable DQ against Akiyama. Despite that he had losses to Filho, Trigg, and Jorge Santiago that are not top fighters at present day and seemed to have a glass jaw. He was planning to pursue a ufc career after the daley fight but decided to quit
4. Cole Konrad - had 9-0 record including wins over Grabowski, Neil Grove, Paul Buentello and Eric Prindle. He was also NCAA wrestling champion and won the Pan-Am games.
5. Jorgen Kruth - His mma record was 5-0 with no noticable wins, his kickboxing record was 71-14
he was scheduled to fight at UFC in Sweden and later Fabio Maldonado but decided to retire prior to his debut.
Ricardo Arona and Sergei Kharitonov are major contenders to get in top 3 spot, if they choose to retire
Also honorable mention to Rickson Gracie who was 11-0
