The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil competitor and standout lightweight Francisco Drinaldo (11-1) will be making his return to the octagon on October 13 in Rio de Janeiro for UFC 153. The Brazilian returns to the lightweight division after competing, quite unbelievably, at middleweight for TUF.
“Massaranduba’s” middleweight run on the show saw him post a quick TKO finish to get into the house, only to be outpointed in the quarterfinals by the much larger Thiago Bodao. The Brazilian went on to defeat his countryman Delson Heleno in dominant fashion at UFC 147.
Drinaldo currently rides a five-fight win-streak, which most recently saw him take the Jungle Fights Championship from Adriano Matrins before his move to greener pastures. The TUF veteran’s lightweight career has seen him take victories over Luiz “Buscape” Firmino and Flavio Alvaro. It remains to be seen who welcomes “Massaranduba” back to 155 lb. but the Brazilian’s presence on the card has been confirmed by the promotion.
