Last night’s UFC on FOX 4 event provided a ton of reasons to leave fans smiling as they exited the arena or flicked off their television sets. The evening was packed with action and full of finishing performances to boot including those in all of the fights broadcasted on FOX.
However, perhaps the biggest “feel good” moment of the show came in the opening offering when Mike Swick returned to the Octagon after more than two years away with health-issues and emerged from the eight-sided cage with his hand raised. Swick secured the stoppage after starting out strong, then struggling a bit before taking opponent DaMarques Johnson down and following it up with a few strikes sucking the life out of his fellow Ultimate Fighter alumnus.
The win not only was Swick’s first since June 2009 but also earned him $50,000 after being named Knockout of the Night.
Swick Talks Motivation for Success
Submission of the Night went to Joe Lauzon who locked in a Triangle Choke midway through the third round of his competitive clash with Jamie Varner. He too won $50,000 for the distinction. Lauzon has finished all 22 of the foes he’s felled in the ring.
Lauzon didn’t stop there either, taking home another $50,000 thanks to his tilt also being named Fight of the Night. Varner received $50,000 for his role as well.
