It appears the injury bug did not eat its fill at UFC 149, as a string of health-related issues have carried over to UFC 150 including recent news regarding the status of middleweight Rousimar Palhares. Palhares, who was scheduled to face Yushin Okami at the August 11 event, apparently suffered some sort of damage to his knee while training for the bout and has been forced to withdraw as a result.
UFC officials confirmed Palhares’ withdrawal earlier today, adding that the Brazilian submission specialist would be replaced by Buddy Roberts in the match-up. Palhares himself was a replacement for Luiz Cane who also went down with an injury.
Roberts is 12-2 in his career with nine stoppages to his credit. He is currently on a six-fight winning streak including a successful Octagon debut last month against Caio Magalhaes at UFC on FX 3.
UFC 150 is headlined by lightweight title-holder Benson Henderson making his first defense, facing former champion Frankie Edgar.
