Antonio Rogerio Nogueira wants to fight Forrest Griffin at UFC 155

The UFC was left looking to fill a vacancy against former light heavyweight champion Forrest Griffin at UFC 155 after pulling Chael Sonnen from the bout and booking him in a future clash with current title-holder Jon Jones. However, they won’t have to do too much digging in order to find a competitor interested in taking the tilt, as seasoned veteran Antonio Rogerio Nogueira has stepped up to say he wants in on the December 29 match-up.

“I’m 100% and training again. Put me in against Forrest Griffin on UFC 155! This fight was scheduled once, let’s do it now,” exclaimed Nogueira this week on Twitter.

Nogueira has Griffin were supposed to throw down in 2010 at UFC 114 before a shoulder injury sidelined the original Ultimate Fighter winner. “Minotoro” went on to battle Jason Brilz who he barely beat by way of decision.

The 20-5 Brazilian hasn’t fought since finishing Tito Ortiz last December. The win added to a career already featuring those over the likes of Vladimir Matyushenko, Dan Henderson, and Alistair Overeem.

Griffin’s last win was also over Ortiz, outpointing him in July to make it three victories in his last four tilts. He holds an overall record of 19-7 including success against Rich Franklin, Quinton Jackson, and Mauricio Rua.
