Illness knocks Michael Chiesa out of UFC on FOX 5

Michael Chiesa has been forced off of UFC on FOX 5 due to illness. UFC officials announced the unfortunate news on Sunday. Chiesa was scheduled to take on Marcus LeVesseur in a lightweight bout on the preliminary card.

The undefeated Chiesa (8-0) was the season 15 winner of The Ultimate Fighter. He recorded a first round rear-naked choke submission over Al Iaquinta at the show’s finale in June to claim the title.

Last week the UFC on FOX 5 fight card lost another bout when the Lavar Johnson vs. Brendan Schaub heavyweight clash was scrapped after Johnson was injured during training.

UFC on FOX 5 will be held at Seattle’s Key Arena. The main card will be televised on FOX at 8:00pm ET.
