Wanderlei Silva likely for fight at UFC’s return to Japan in March

Iconic brawler Wanderlei Silva may have fought in the Octagon before ever gracing a PRIDE ring but there’s no question “The Axe Murderer” made a name for himself in the famed Japanese organization. Silva’s performances in PRIDE were legendary to say the least, earning him a reputation as one of MMA’s most ferocious foes.

However, Silva hasn’t fought in Japan since 2006 and is at the tail-end of his career. Fortunately, it appears that may change next year when the UFC heads to Saitama Super Arena for UFC on Fuel 8.

According to Silva’s longtime friend and trainer, Rafael Cordeiro, it is a “big possibility” that the beloved Brazilian will see action at the March 3 show.

His comments came in a conversation with TATAME.

Silva is 2-2 in his last four fights, picking up wins over Michael Bisping and Cung Le while losing to Chris Leben and most recently Rich Franklin. Over his sixteen years in the sport, Silva has compiled a total mark of 34-12-1 with 24 TKOs and success against the likes of Quinton Jackson and Dan Henderson.
