Bellator gave fans the unique opportunity to assist in booking the organization’s 2013 debut on Spike TV by allowing people to vote for the match-up that would kick the company’s new era off. Unfortunately, the bout folks tabbed as the winner has been pushed back after one of the fighters went down with a fairly serious injury while training for the tilt.
According to Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney, War Machine fractured his fibia and slightly tore his ACL in the gym and will be unable to face Paul Daley in January as planned. However, the company is still expecting to have the two mix it up at some point next year when both are healthy.
The 12-4 Machine is expected to miss 4-6 months as a result. He has already been out of action for more than a year as a result of some jail time stemming from an old charge.
No word was given on what fight will replace Machine-Daley.
