Former champion Lyman Good advances to semifinal round of welterweight tournament with win at Bellator 74

One of the last remaining Bellator originals, Lyman Good has been very vocal in the past about how important it is for him to earn a second shot at beating Ben Askren to recapture the feel of a divisional title around his waist. Good became the promotion’s first welterweight champion after winning a Season 1 tournament but lost the belt a year later to the still-undefeated Askren.

Good’s journey back to a title-fight started last night at Bellator 74 when he was able to defeat opponent Jim Wallhead by way of decision in the quarterfinal round of the company’s latest welterweight tourney. “Cyborg” looked sharp throughout, picking Wallhead apart with jabs and doing damage in the clinch. He improved his record to 13-2 with the win.

Joining Good in the final four were Michail Tsarev, Andrey Korsehkov, and Marius Zaromskis who all came out victorious in their respective rumbles.
