Attila Vegh Out of Bellator 84 Title Fight With Christian M’Pumbu

Christian M’Pumbu will ostensibly be forced to wait even longer to defend his Bellator Light Heavyweight Championship for the first time as Atilla Vegh has been forced out of their Bellator 84 title bout due to injury.

The undisclosed injury to Vegh (25-7-2) reportedly sees the champion off the card. ”Pumukli” earned his title shot by winning the Bellator 2012 Summer Series Light Heavyweight Tournament, which saw him take a submission over Zelg Glesic, a contentious unanimous decision over Emamuel Newton, and a decisive first-round TKO over Travis Wiuff.

M’Pumbu (18-4) has yet to defend the title he won during the season 4 tournament. Since defeating Rich Hale in the finals on May 21, 2011, the Congolese fighter has seen action just once, losing a unanimous decision to Travis Wiuff in a Bellator 55 super fight the following October.

Bellator 84 takes place December 14 at The Venue at Horseshoe Casino in Hammond, Indiana. The event will serve as the promotion’s farewell show on MTV2, before the permanent move to Spike in 2013.
