Last week it was reported that bantamweight Urijah Faber would make his return to the ring at UFC 156 against British prospect Vaughan Lee. However, it looks like that may not be the case after all, as Lee caught wind of the rumored rumble and has since stepped forward to deny any knowledge of the bout’s existence.
“It’s just a nice rumor that’s got me a lot of followers on Twitter,” Lee joked in a conversation with Fighters Only Magazine.
“I haven’t heard anything from the UFC confirming it,” continued Lee. “I heard about me fighting Faber over Twitter. People we’re like, ‘Well, you’re fighting Faber and all this,’ and I was like, ‘Am I? Oh, cool.’ It’s just a rumor; we haven’t heard anything.”
Of course, while Lee admitted he was in the dark about who his next opponent would be, he certainly didn’t deny the possibility of a fight with Faber.
Lee is coming off a loss to T.J. Dillashaw, one of Faber’s protégés at Team Alpha Male. Likewise, Faber also experienced defeat in his last outing when he was outpointed by interim champion Renan Barao.
