The lineup for UFC on FOX 4 took a hit this week when it was revealed that heavyweight Ben Rothwell had injured his ankle and been forced to pull out of a planned pairing at the August 4 show against Travis Browne. At this point it does not appear a replacement is being sought for the bout, as Mike Swick’s scrap with Damarques Johnson has been bumped up to the main card.
The UFC confirmed both matters late last night.
The match-up will certainly be missed considering the likelihood for entertainment. Rothwell was coming off a knockout win over Brendan Schaub in perhaps his finest showing as a UFC fighter. Rothwell, who has finished 29 of the 32 opponents he’s beaten, also holds past victories over Gilbert Yvel and Roy Nelson.
Comparably, Browne is 13-0 with eleven stoppages including those against Chad Griggs and Stefan Struve.
