UFC 151 has seen a lightweight battle of wrestlers added to the billing as Shane Roller now faces off with Jacok Volkmann.
Volkmann (14-3) recently saw a five-fight win-streak snapped by Paul Sass’ signature triangle choke at UFC 146 in May. Prior to the bout, “Christmas” had defeated the likes of Ultimate Fighter winner Effrain Escudero, Team Alpha Male product Danny Castillo, and long-time MFC lightweight champion Antonio McKee.
Roller (11-6) most recently broke a three-fight skid by out-grappling the veteran John Alessio three short weeks ago at UFC 148. Prior to the bout, the Team Takedown representative suffered defeat at the hands of Melvin Guillard, T.J. Grant, and Michael Johnson. Roller came into the UFC with 6-2 WEC record, with his only losses coming to future champions Ben Henderson and Anthony Pettis.
UFC 151 will take place September 1 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event is headlined by UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones making his fourth title defense against Strikeforce Champion Dan Henderson.
