The UFC’s September stop in Nottingham, England got another injection of British fighters this week when the organization announced bouts between middleweights Tom Watson-Brad Tavares and welterweights John Hathaway-John Maguire. The only American in the group is Tavares while the other three all call the U.K. home.
UFC on Fuel 5 is scheduled for September 29 and already features a number of Brits on the card including Brad Pickett, Che Mills, Paul Sass, and Dan Hardy.
The 15-4 Watson will be making his UFC debut at the show after a solid run in Cage Rage and BAMMA (where he held the title). He has come out a victor in his last three outings. Meanwhile, Tavares is 8-1 and was last seen outpointing Dongi Yang at UFC on Fuel 3.
A Closer Look at Hathaway’s Last Fight
Hathaway and Maguire are both promising talents in their twenties riding respectable winning streaks. Hathaway holds an overall record of 16-1 in comparison to Maguire’s 18-3.
