Dana White: Lyoto is Fighting Dan Henderson

UFC President Dana White is still not shy about unleashing his vitriol over the UFC 151 fiasco. After Dan Henderson suffered a knee injury three weeks out, that caused him to be pulled from the bill on just eight-days notice, it would eventually lead to the show’s undoing. Then incumbent number-one contender Lyoto Machida then turned down a fight with Jon Jones at UFC 152, leading to the eventual Jones-Belfort headliner. Well, according to Dana White, the champion went from having two number-one contenders to none as Henderson and Machida are now slated to face-off with one another.

“Machida should have taken the fight,” said White. “We’ve seen it, history always repeats itself. Look how long it took Rashad to fight for the title again. So you wanted to fight Jone Jones, you climbed up to the title fight and you don’t take it. Now you’re fighting f—— Dan Henderson. Now you might not even get to the f—— title again. You lose to Dan Henderson you’re not anywhere near Jon Jones.

You jump on opportunities when they’re available. You get a shot at the title, the biggest money fight you can be in, the highest profile fight you can be in. And if you win that f—— fight, the whole world changes overnight.”

While no official date has been set for the bout, the Team Quest product has stated that although not yet medically cleared, he may be in action by the end of the year.
