When welterweight Nick Diaz’s suspension for marijuana metabolites is lifted it looks like he’s already got an opponent who is more than willing to welcome him back to the Octagon – Josh Koscheck. The former title-contender mentioned Diaz as an adversary he was interested in last week and, at least according to Koscheck, it looks like the Stockton scrapper’s camp may be biting on his offer.
“Cesar Gracie is calling for me (to) fight Diaz in February (on) Super Bowl Weekend! What (do) you guys think? I am DOWN! Don’t be scared homie,” exclaimed Koscheck on Twitter, referring to Diaz’s trainer/manager.
Neither party has publicly responded to Koscheck’s statement, though Gracie has been vocal as of late about his star student still wanting to fight Anderson Silva. Regardless of interest, Diaz’s drug-related suspension does not expire until February 4, 2013 which is unfortunately a few days after the UFC is expected to put on their annual Super Bowl Weekend event.
Other Opponents Koscheck Would Like to Face
Both men are coming off hard-fought, semi-controversial decision losses in their most recent outings. Diaz fell to Carlos Condit at UFC 143 after serving as the aggressor throughout, while Koscheck came up short against Johny Hendricks this past May.
