It didn’t take the UFC long to find a replacement for Eddie Yagin after the 33-year old went down in training this week with a serious head injury causing his brain to swell, as it looks like Nam Phan has gotten the call to face Dennis Siver on December 8 at UFC on FOX 5. The possibility was first hinted at by Phan in a post on Twitter where he wrote, “If one Asian brother falls then another must take his spot,” also asking fans if they wanted to see him take the tilt.
UFC officials have confirmed the change in card.
The 18-10 Phan has emerged victorious in two of his last three fights including success against Leonard Garcia and Cole Miller. Comparably, Siver is 20-8 but has only fought once at 145 pounds after racking up the majority of his wins as a lightweight, outpointing Diego Nunes in April.
Phan-Siver will be part of the evening’s undercard.
