The UFC on FOX 6 fight card from the United Center in Chicago, Ill., on Jan. 26, 2013, is filling up fast with the light heavyweight showdown between Quinton Jackson and Glover Teixeira expected to finally go down in the "Windy City."
Ask and you indeed shall receive.
Quinton Jackson and Glover Teixeira now have their make up date after "Rampage" stood up his Light Heavyweight Brazilian fight partner earlier this year at UFC 153 because of an injury:
Jan. 26, 2013, on the UFC on FOX 6 main card that will emanate from the United Center in Chicago, Illinois.
Jackson broke the news via his official Twitter.com page this evening, promising to "destroy" Teixeira:
"Outside the cage I hate no one. Life is too short for that. In side the cage my Job is to destroy! Glover is done on Jan 26 in Chicago ..."
Jackson is poised to (finally) make his final appearance for Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) after a tumultuous relationship, which has been well publicized over the last few months.
He's unhappy about his paycheck, thinks UFC matchmaker Joe Silva should be "shot in the face" and even turned down a recent offer to coach The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 17 opposite Chael Sonnen because he didn't want to get "humped."
Never a dull moment.
The former UFC light heavyweight champion will look to snap an uncharacteristic two-fight losing streak, having been finished by Jon Jones at UFC 135 before Ryan Bader outpointed him at UFC 144.
He better be motivated if he wants to ride off into the sunset a winner at the expense of a beast like Texieira.
"The Pit"-trained fighter is coming off a complete one-sided ass-kicking that sent Fabio Maldonado -- who stepped up on short notice to replace Jackson in Rio -- to the hospital after two insane rounds of punishment (see the pic here).
Maldonado somehow took everything that Texieira dished out before the referee, thankfully, waived off the match before the final frame. Prior to the Maldonado victory, Texieira choked out the venerable Kyle Kingsbury en route to a first round submission stoppage at UFC 146.
UFC on FOX 6 will feature a 125-pound world title fight between Flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson vs. John Dodson in the main event of the evening, with a rumored match up between top Lightweight contenders Donald Cerrone vs. Anthony Pettis also expected to hook 'em on the nationally-televised main card.
