Shane Carwin Out of ‘TUF 16 Finale’ Against Roy Nelson

UFC Shane Carwin

On Wednesday afternoon, UFC president Dana White announced the injury bug has decided to take yet another bite out of one of his athletes.

Shane Carwin (Pictured) has blown out his knee and will be forced to withdraw from his “The Ultimate Fighter 16 Finale” scrap against Roy Nelson.

“WOW!! It never ends Carwin blew his knee out. Looking for a new opponent for Roy on the TUF Finale on FX,” White tweeted.

From an injury standpoint, Carwin can’t seem to catch a break. The former interim heavyweight champ is coming off back-to-back back surgeries that nixed most of his 2012 campaign.

The 37-year-old blasted out of the mixed martial arts gates by winning his first 12 professional bouts. He has since lost his last two fights, with his most recent coming in a unanimous decision defeat to now-champ Junior dos Santos in a top contender contest at UFC 131.

Carwin and Nelson served as opposing coaches on the most recent season of The Ultimate Fighter.

TUF 16 Finale takes place December 15th inside Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Here is the show’s revised roster:

John Cofer vs. Mike Rio

Johnny Bedford vs. Marcos Vinicius

Reuben Duran vs. Hugo Viana

Rustam Khabilov vs. Vinc Pichel

Mike Pyle vs. James Head
