Jose Aldo Now Out of UFC 153 with Injury

UFC Jose Aldo

For you Brazilians who have already bought tickets for UFC 153, it certainly sucks to be you right now. Less than an hour after announcing Quinton “Rampage” Jackson would have to bow out of the card’s co-main event, a foot injury has now forced featherweight king Jose Aldo (Pictured) to withdraw from the show’s featured attraction.

“Now Aldo is out with foot injury. Main and co main in the same day!! Another amazing day at the UFC. We have some work to do,” UFC president Dana White tweeted just moments ago.

Aldo was slated to defend his throne against Frankie Edgar in one of the most anticipated 145-pound affairs in mixed martial arts history. Ironically, Edgar was serving as a last-minute substitute for wounded Erik Koch in the October 13th scrap.

This marks the second time Aldo’s title defense was postponed since defending his crown against Chad Mendes in January. “Scarface” and Koch were set to tango at UFC 149 until Aldo was forced to withdraw with an undisclosed injury.

“Sorry guys, i really want to fight but is hurting a lot my injuries. Im very sad right now!” Aldo posted on his Twitter.

No word if Edgar will remain in the lineup or if the promotion is scouring its roster for a suitable replacement.

Courtesy of the injury bug, what once was one of 2012′s most star-studded lineups has turned bad very quickly.

HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil hosts the fiesta.
