Unfortunately, it appears UFC middleweight Mark Munoz won’t be back in the Octagon before the end of the year after disclosing he’d suffered an unknown foot injury while training and may spend a lengthy period of time on the sidelines as a result. Munoz has only fought a single time in 2012, losing by way of knockout to Chris Weidman, and missed a number of months earlier this year based on issues with his elbow.
“I am not sure if it is broken. I will be getting an official MRI and I will know. I just hope they do not have to break it in order for it to heal properly,” explained Munoz in an interview with Fight Hub TV, also saying it could be up to a year before he’s healthy again.
“The Filipino Wrecking Machine” also mentioned a staph infection had hindered his overall recovery though he’s since gotten it cleared up.
Munoz’s Plans to Fight Hector Lombard Put on Hold
The 34-year old Munoz was on the cusp of title-contendership before falling to Weidman. He holds an overall record of 12-3 including wins over Aaron Simpson, Kendall Grove, Demian Maia, and Chris Leben.
