A battle of middleweight contenders Chris “All-American” Weidman and Tim “The Barbarian” Boetsch has been booked for the year-end show of UFC 155 on December 29. UFC match-makers announced the high stakes bout on Friday.
The undefeated Weidman (9-0) is considered by many to be the front-runner for the next title shot. He has recorded consecutive wins over other top 185-pounders Mark Munoz and Demian Maia. He earned a unanimous decision over Maia UFC on Fox 2 then impressively stopped Munoz with a second round knockout at UFC on Fuel TV 4.
Boetsch (16-4) has won straight bouts since dropping down from light heavyweight to compete at middleweight. He scored a stunning come from behind knockout win over Yushin Okami at UFC 144. Most recently, Boetsch notched a split decision win over highly touted newcomer Hector Lombard at UFC 149.
UFC 155, which takes place in Las Vegas, features heavyweight champ Junior dos Santos putting his title on the line against former champion Cain Velasquez.
