“Strikeforce: Melendez vs. Healy” Update: Two Bouts Added

A pair of bouts have been added to “Strikeforce: Melendez vs. Healy.” A lightweight showdown between Jorge Gurgel and Mizuto Hirota has been targeted along with a welterweight matchup between Nah-Shon Burrell and Yuri Villefort. Strikeforce announced the news earlier today.

Gurgel will be looking to reestablish himself in the division after year off since facing Joe Duarte. Gurgel is currently 2-3 in the promotion.

His opponent, Mizuto Hirota, will be looking for his first promotional win after dropping a razor-thin decision to Pat Healy earlier this year.

In the welterweight matchup, both Burrell and Villefort are looking to bounce back from their respective losses to Chris Spang and Quinn Mulhern.

Headlining the card will be a lightweight title fight between champion Gilbert Melendez and Pat Healy. The card will take place at the Power Balance Pavilion in Sacramento, California. The card will air on Showtime and will take place September 29.
