UFC 153 takes major blow with loss of Jose Aldo, Quinton Jackson due to injury

UFC President Dana White can’t seem to catch a break these days when it comes to the health of the fighters on his roster, unless of course that break has to due with a bone. Earler today it came to light that White had once again been left scrambling to find a new main event with the added aggravation of a new co-headliner as well with both bouts being attached to UFC 153.

Specifically, the outspoken executive announced Jose Aldo and Quinton Jackson had both suffered some sort of health-related issue while training for their tilts and would have to be replaced. Aldo was scheduled to defend his featherweight belt against Frankie Edgar, while Jackson was poised to meet Glover Teixeira. No specifics about the condition of either were revealed.

“Another amazing day at the UFC. We have some work to do,” posted White on Twitter.

Though it’s unknown if he’ll receive a nod from the matchmaking team, fan-favorite Urijah Faber wasted little time stepping up to help out if needed, saying he was in the process of bulking up for a potential showdown with Edgar. The 26-6 Faber held featherweight gold in WEC but has recently been competing at 135 pounds where he fell by way of decision to Renan Barao this past July.
