Undefeated Sara McMann signs with Strikeforce

Olympian and undefeated mixed martial artist Sara McMann has signed with Strikefroce. The news was initially announced by Invicta Fighting Championships, the premier women’s MMA promotion, on Tuesday.

Invicta FC President Shannon Knapp stated, “Since we established Invicta FC at the beginning of this year, our goal has been to produce the best possible matchups between women mixed martial artists and, to achieve this, we sometimes need to import talent like Sarah Kaufman from elsewhere as well as to send talent like Sara McMann to a place like Strikeforce where there is a healthy amount of championship level professional women’s MMA competition just like there is on our roster.”

McMann was a silver medalist in women’s freestyle wrestling at the 2004 Summer Olympics games in Athens. She has quickly found success in MMA by building a 6-0 record since turning professional in 2011. McMann last competed in the main event of Invicta FC 2 where she earned a unanimous decision over Shayna Baszler.

It is anticipated that McMann will make her Strikeforce debut as part of the “Daniel Cormier vs. Fanki Mir” card on November 3rd.
