The UFC’s upcoming return to Brazil has been beefed up by another bout, as it appears featherweights Diego Nunes and Nik Lentz are scheduled to face off at the January 19 event. Both men are coming off impressive wins and will be looking to take the next step towards contendership when they meet in the Octagon.
Portal do Vale Tudo was first to report the fight, though the UFC still hasn’t officially announced the card. Other bouts rumored to be taking place at the show include George Roop-Yuri Alcantara and Michael Bisping-Vitor Belfort.
Lentz was last seen scoring a strike-based stoppage in his UFC debut at 145 pounds, knockout out Eiji Mitsuoka in the opening round of their August outing. He holds an overall record of 22-5-2 in his career with sixteen stoppages and past triumphs against the likes of Rafaello Oliveira, Drew Fickett, Andre Winner, and Tyson Griffin.
The 18-3 Nunes outpointed Bart Palaszewski in early October, adding to other UFC wins over Manny Gamburyan and Mike Brown.
